After moisturising and applying a mattifying makeup base, I always apply concealer underneath my eyes to cover the dark circles I'm cursed with. I have used many different concealers but the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer has become my all time favourite. It has good, equal coverage and is very illuminating so not only brightens my eyes but also brightens the rest of my face. Currently retailing at £5.49, it's a very reasonable purchase which I could not go without in my makeup bag!
For my foundation I use the No7 Beautifully Matte foundation. Due to having sensitive skin, I have trouble finding a foundation that will suit me for a long period of time. Previously I was using the Mac Studio Fix Fluid which only reacted well to my skin for around 6 months so I had to shop around to find a new one. I have been using this No7 foundation for over 6 months now and have had no problems whatsoever. It has a light consitency so isn't 'cakey' on your face yet covers blemishes extremely well. I love the fact it is also matte which is very handy for someone like me who suffers from oily skin. To set the foundation I use No7 Mineral Perfection powder which matches well with the No7 foundation. I have been using this powder for years now and this powder/foundation combination is perfect for me. A bonus is that this powder lasts a long time and at £13.50 is also very reasonable.
For my bronzer I am currently using the Bourjois Délice de Poudre bronzing powder which I have been a fan of for years. This bronzing powder is a gorgeous colour which gives you a healthy glow yet isn't too shimmery! It is such an amazing product that I feel belongs in every girls makeup bag! As well as it being a great colour, it also has a lovely smell which reminds me of chocolate and summer. The blusher that I am currently using (and nearly out of) is the Mac Pro Longwear Blush in Eternal Sun. Once again, the colour is perfect and compliments the bronzing powder very well! I can only describe the colour as a 'burnt peach' but in different lights, the shade of the colour varies which I think makes it look more natural! I am currently on the hunt for a new highlighter but the one I am using at the moment is a Ted Baker 'one off' which I received as a gift! I'm not usually a fan of two-tone highlighters but this Ted Baker one works really well as the colours are both subtle pinks. I also like the fact it is a powder highlighter and not a liquid one.
In my makeup bag I keep two mascaras - an every day one and an evening one. During the day I wear the Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Super Volume mascara. I would have never thought of trying Soap & Glory's mascara before until I received it in a gift set and I'm so glad I now have it in my makeup collection! It's such a good mascara for school/work as it looks natural yet still adds some volume to your lashes! For the evening, I like to make a statement with my eye makeup. To help me achieve the perfect evening look, I always use Benefits They're Real mascara which is currently priced at £19.50! Although it's at the higher end of the market, it's such a worthy buy as I feel it produces great results. It elongates my lashes a great deal and also thickens them without making them look 'clumpy' and unnatural!
The lip products that I keep in my makeup bag varies as my mind is forever changing when it comes to colours but I do always have a lipstick and lipgloss in there. Currently, my go-to lipstick is Mac's Lustre lipstick in See Sheer. It is quite a natural looking dark pink which has a subtle shimmery tone to it! I feel this is a versatile lipstick that is suitable for everyday use as it goes well with many different outfits and makeup looks. I am constantly raving about Tanya Burr's lipglosses so it's not a surprise that one of them will appear in my makeup bag! I'm loving Tanya's gloss in Aurora as it matches the Mac's See Sheer extremely well because likewise it's a shimmery dark pink! Both lip products also smell great which naturally makes me even more addicted to them!
I hope you enjoyed this blog post and that it gave you a good insight on what products I love/recommend! Incase anybody is wondering, my make up bag is from Cath Kidston :-)
